You Are Where My Home Is
The heart, the home, is where your love is
Both my daughters have my heart.
One lives in one home, one in another.
Neither knows the other.
I've lived out of a suitcase much of my life
My art (or craft) was home enough
I sang or spoke in one place or another.
Where didn't matter.
I sang or spoke of us, of life. I didn't know much.
I knew I didn't know much. I knew enough
To know I knew how to speak from my heart
Or another's. That's what matters.
I knew enough to know my place, my home.
I knew enough to go where I could go
And sing, or speak, of what I know.
To us. It seemed to matter.
I knew where I wouldn't sing well. Couldn' sing well.
My heart said home was not a place wih children.
Ones own children need a special song.
With words that matter.
Two homes, are where my loves lie.
Both my daughters have my heart.
One lives in one home, one in another.
I know one. I hardly know the other.
